My name is Allison Rainville, and I have embarked on a journey to figure out how I can use my photography to inspire my quilting. I’ve started a blog to keep people updated on my journey and as an accountability partner as I learn what it means to accomplish big projects like this now that I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD.
As of this writing (summer 2024), I’m still not 100% sure where this project will lead me. I have some grand ideas, of course, but whether or not I’ll end up achieving them is very much up in the air, and it’s not unheard-of for me to suddenly veer off into a very different direction, smack-dab in the middle of a project, from where I was initially headed.
Grand Idea #1: Develop the skills I’m learning into something I can teach, either in person to quilt guilds or other interested folks, or in book form. Honestly, I miss teaching (I taught high school for the better part of 20 years but left the classroom at the start of the pandemic), so part of this is my desire to get back into a new kind of “classroom.”
Grand Idea #2: Develop my skills and my art to the point where I might be considered a serious contender for an artist-in-residence position at an entity within the National Park Service. This goal is a little bit more amorphous and, frankly, far-fetched, but hey, stranger things have happened.
I have some other photography goals as well. If I really get things going, perhaps more will appear as part of my website, but for now, the blog and the quilts will be the main focus.
Stay tuned!
